What We Believe
The Bible
We believe the Bible, which consists of the Old and New Testaments, to be God’s inspired and infallible Word, having supreme and final authority.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (ESV) – “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Psalm 119:105 (ESV) – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
God
We believe in one God existing eternally (without beginning or end) in one essence as three co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19 (ESV) – “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 13:14 (ESV) – “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
Isaiah 43:10 (ESV) – “Hear, O Is“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.
Jesus
We believe in Jesus Christ who was begotten of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.
Luke 1:35 (ESV) – “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.”
Matthew 1:23 (ESV) – “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).”
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He empowers believers, giving them spiritual gifts to proclaim the Gospel and build up the church.
John 16:8 (ESV) – “And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.”
Acts 1:8 (ESV) – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
1 Corinthians 12:4–7 (ESV) – “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”
Mankind
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God but sinned, incurring not only physical death but spiritual death, which is separation from God.
Genesis 1:27 (ESV) – “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Romans 3:23 (ESV) – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23 (ESV) – “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Atonement
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a substitutionary atonement. Those who trust in Him alone are restored to God freely on the basis of His shed blood.
1 Peter 2:24 (ESV) – “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
Romans 5:8 (ESV) – “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 John 1:7 (ESV) – “The blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
His Resurrection
We believe in the physical resurrection of our crucified Lord, proving defeat over sin and providing the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (ESV) – “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.”
John 11:25 (ESV) – “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.”
Acts 24:15 (ESV) – “…there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust.”
His Ascension
We believe in Christ’s ascension into heaven and His present life there as our Advocate and High Priest.
Acts 1:9–11 (ESV) – “And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight… this Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
Hebrews 7:25 (ESV) – “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
His Return
We believe in the visible and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Revelation 22:12 (ESV) – “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done.”
Matthew 24:30 (ESV) – “Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
Heaven and Hell
We believe in eternal life and the fellowship of the saved in heaven. We also believe in a literal hell as eternal punishment for Satan and the unrepentant.
John 14:2–3 (ESV) – “In my Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.”
Matthew 25:46 (ESV) – “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Revelation 20:10 (ESV) – “…the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur…”
Satan
We believe Satan is still active in the world to destroy the souls of men. He and all his angels, along with those who reject Christ, will eternally perish in the lake of fire.
1 Peter 5:8 (ESV) – “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
Revelation 20:10 (ESV) – “…and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Grace
We believe we can provide nothing to earn God’s forgiveness, favor, or eternal life. It is by His grace alone.
Ephesians 2:8–9 (ESV) – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Titus 3:5 (ESV) – “…he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy…”
Our Adoption
We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and adopted as children of God.
John 1:12 (ESV) – “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Romans 8:15–17 (ESV) – “…you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”
Priesthood of Believers
We believe that when someone is born again, they are added to the body of Christ and are part of God’s holy priesthood.
1 Peter 2:9 (ESV) – “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession…”
Revelation 1:6 (ESV) – “…and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father…”
Baptism
We believe that upon receiving Christ by faith and repentance, one should be baptized by immersion, declaring Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, and lordship.
Romans 6:4 (ESV) – “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Matthew 28:19 (ESV) – “…baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Communion/Sacrament
We believe in remembering Christ’s life, crucifixion, and resurrection through the Lord’s Supper.
Luke 22:19–20 (ESV) – “…this do in remembrance of me. In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.’”
1 Corinthians 11:24–25 (ESV) – “Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
The Sanctity of Marriage
God designed marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman for life, reflecting Christ’s relationship with the Church.
Genesis 2:24 (ESV) Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Ephesians 5:31–32 (ESV) “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
The Sanctity of Life
All human life is sacred, created in the image of God, from conception to natural death. Every person is worthy of dignity and protection.
Psalm 139:13–14 (ESV) For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Jeremiah 1:5 (ESV) Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
The Mission
We believe the mission of the church is to make disciples of all peoples and teach them to do the same.
Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV) – “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Acts 1:8 (ESV) – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses… to the end of the earth.”
